Our Story

How Corvane Came Together

Corvane started as an internal documentation effort at a Kuala Lumpur hardware consultancy. Engineers on the team kept rebuilding the same reference tables — inference accelerator specs, memory bandwidth figures, thermal envelopes — for each new project. The material existed in vendor datasheets, but scattered across dozens of sources with no consistent structure or neutral framing.

In early 2022, the team formalised that internal work into a standalone reference project. The goal was straightforward: produce edge AI hardware entries written the way a well-organised handbook entry would be written — complete, comparable, and free of promotional language.

Corvane launched its first reference library in mid-2022 and has since expanded to include the Comparison Workbook for teams and the Custom Research Brief for organisations with specific scoping needs. All content remains editorially independent.

Organised Information for Hardware Decisions

The edge AI hardware landscape is broad and changes quickly. New system-on-module platforms, inference accelerators, and connectivity standards appear each quarter. Corvane's mission is to keep that landscape documented in a form that working engineers and technical managers can actually use — not a vendor catalogue, and not an opinion piece.

We focus on presenting hardware characteristics in consistent, comparable entry formats: architecture, compute capacity, interface support, thermal specifications, and typical deployment contexts. We flag when entries are updated or when a product reaches end-of-life.

Operating from Kuala Lumpur means we are positioned alongside the engineering teams, research groups, and technology companies across Malaysia that are actively working with edge AI infrastructure.

Editorial Standards

How We Maintain Quality

The reference is only useful if it is accurate, current, and written to a consistent standard. These are the practices we follow.

Source Verification

Every specification figure in Corvane's entries is traced to an official datasheet, product brief, or published errata. We note when a figure is inferred or extrapolated.

Quarterly Review Cycle

The full entry library is reviewed every quarter. Entries for products with updated datasheets, revised pricing tiers, or revised availability status are refreshed on each cycle.

Neutral Framing Policy

Corvane does not accept sponsored entries, vendor-supplied content, or paid placement. All entries follow the same structure regardless of the manufacturer or platform.

Consistent Entry Format

Each entry follows a fixed schema covering architecture, compute specs, memory, interface support, operating envelope, and common deployment context. This makes cross-entry comparison meaningful.

Data Privacy Practice

Client engagement details — especially for Custom Research Briefs — are kept confidential. Discovery call notes and delivered briefs are not shared or referenced in public materials.

Status Labelling

Entries are tagged with current status: active, end-of-life, not-yet-released, or datasheet-only. This helps users quickly assess the relevance of an entry to their current timeline.

Our Approach

Engineering-Grade Reference for an Expanding Hardware Category

Edge AI hardware — the class of processors, accelerators, and platforms that run machine learning workloads close to data sources rather than in centralised cloud infrastructure — has grown into a substantial and varied category. Inference chips from multiple vendors, system-on-module formats from dozens of manufacturers, and emerging open-architecture platforms have created a documentation challenge for technical teams evaluating options.

Corvane addresses this by applying the discipline of a reference handbook to hardware documentation. Rather than aggregating vendor materials, the team reads primary sources, identifies the parameters that matter for comparative evaluation, and writes entries that present those parameters consistently. The result is a reference library where an engineer can move between entries for different platforms and make like-for-like comparisons.

The Comparison Workbook extends this into a collaborative format — useful when a team needs to document their evaluation criteria and align on which hardware characteristics are most relevant to a given deployment context. The Custom Research Brief goes further, engaging directly with an organisation's stated questions and delivering a document structured around those questions rather than around a general reference format.

Based in Kuala Lumpur's Sentral precinct, Corvane serves engineering organisations, hardware procurement teams, and technology strategists across Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian technology sector. All resources are produced in English and priced in Malaysian Ringgit.
